A Quick Tutorial on Blog Spamming

If you're a blogger, you deal with blog spam. Most blogging tools are fairly well equiped to filter it, so it doesn't bother me too much.

On the other hand, if you are a blog spammer (or simply interested in web privacy in general), you might want to take a look at WebGuerrilla's recent post. In particular, the critical difference between elite and anonymous proxies.

From endot in the comments:

There are three levels of proxy anonymity - low or transparent, which will reveal the end-user IP address if the “right questions are asked.”

An (level 2) anonymous proxy will tell you that access is coming from a proxy but won’t reveal the end-user IP address directly.

An elite proxy would be the cream of the crop — not only does it not reveal the end user’s IP address, it doesn’t readily identify as a proxy.
