AdWords Landing Page Score to Eat into Click Arbitrage?

The AdWord Blog announced plans to "improve Google's algorithms for evaluating landing page quality (often based on feedback from our end-users)".

The post goes on to say "advertisers who are providing a low quality user experience on their landing pages will see increases in their minimum bids."

Essentially, this is designed to effect those advertisers who're buying low-priced clicks from AdWords to get traffic they hope will click on higher-priced AdSense ads on their sites (although the traffic could also be monetized in other ways, like YPN).

If you can buy traffic at 10 cents a click and average 11 cents per vistor in your AdSense revenue, then you've got a (somewhat shaky) profit model happening. Simple click arbitrage.

Jensense has a good post, and the comments are excellent, especially her advice on how to identify low quality AdSense advertisers on your site without breaking Google's TOS by clicking on their ads:

The easiest is to download the AdSense Preview Tool and set it to your geolocation. Then right click the page where you see the ad, select the preview tool, and it will list the ads on the page. Then you can click within the preview tool to go to the landing page of any ad, without worrying about clicking on your own ads.
