Google, both Killing and Feeding Newspapers

Like a boxing match where one fighter props up his bloodied opponent so that he can enjoy pummeling him some more, Google is now rolling out an ad-buying program targeting newspapers.

The irony is delicious. After years of being a major force facilitating the wholesale slaughter of newspaper readership numbers, Google's now going to buttress the staggering industry by feeding them some advertising dollars.

Of course, John Dvorak seemed to indicate a while back that the primary reason newspapers are declining is not because of the Internet, but because they have too many ads, and all those ads are starting to overwhelm the content.

Google Publication Ads: fun new advertising outlet, or a clever way for Google to put the shiv in a dying adversary? You decide.

Ah, my tinfoil hat sparkles in the sun...

(Sorry, for the life of me I can't find a link to that Dvorak article again. If anyone knows the one I'm talking about please send me a link).
