Google Loves the Spam

It's a bit ironic that Google takes such a high-and-mighty approach to spam when their Google AdSense program is probably the single biggest source of search engine spam in the history of the Internet.

Anyone who's spent anytime on the web knows there's literally millions of garbage pages that exists solely to generate AdSense revenues. Until Google begins to demand that their advertisers meet some stricter quality guidelines, they'll continue to indirectly fund the pollution of the Internet on a truly massive scale.

Google's not alone in this, of course, and even if they were to clean up, there would still be plenty of people to take their place. They wouldn't necessarily be able to solve the problem, but at least they shouldn't be complicit in it.

Still, I imagine these crap AdSense pages play a big role in the billions in advertising revenues Google generates every year, so it'll probably be tough for them to give up the junk.
