Nobody Knows Links Like an SEO

I'm going to be a guest on eMarketing Talk Show today, and while brainstorming some topics to discuss, I decided to check the backlinks of a few SEO firms and their clients. Few sites are as creative about finding backlinks as SEO firms, so I figured I'd find some interesting ideas.

Here's a few good ones:

The Slashdot supporters page - PageRank 8 link. Free, but requires you place their logo on your site. Ever wonder why you see those little Slashdot logos on SEO blogs? Now you know.

The MozDev supporters page - PageRank 8 link. Costs a $1000 donation, but still fairly packed with well-known SEO names.

The Kotke.org supporters page - PageRank 6 link. Not as many SEOs on this one, but there's a few familiar names.

How Stuffs Works Health - PageRank 8 link. I'm not involved in this particular space myself, but this site seems ever popular if you're looking buy links to sell things like phentermine, hard money loans, or digital cameras. Referred to as "reference links", which is a nice touch.

The Google awards page - PageRank 8. In a position to award Google an industry accolade for bestest search engine ever? You might be in line for a PageRank 8 link from Google themselves.

Of course, some of these SEO have had these links for all time, and it's possible they don't have the same juice as they did when they first got listed. I wouldn't be surprised, for example, if Google's gotten around to turning off the juice from that Slashdot supporters page. Still. food for thought.
