Welcome to my blog. Here's a list of my best posts, as well as a complete archive of everything I've ever blogged about. « Google Shutting Out Blind Users | Main | Early Experiences with MSN adCenter » February 21, 2006Pixie Dust and Turd LengthAh, the gentlemanly art of the blog post title :-] Back when I started this blog, I did lots of comments and trackbacks, and picked up a toolbar PageRank 5 within about 3 weeks of coming online. Then I slacked off a bit, and dropped to a PageRank 4 a few months later. Today I noticed I'm back at PageRank 5 again, so...yay. It's nice to have, if only from a perceived credibility perspective. Even though I shouldn't, I still often find myself glancing at many a site's toolbar PageRank to get a quick opinion of their stature. It's a hard habit to break. I think Nick Wilson may have said it best (or at least most scatologically): You'd have more luck judging digestion by turd length than trying to work out how well your blog is doing by its pagerank :) True enough, but what's the harm in letting a fellow enjoy his little green pixie dust once in a while? At least it's got its entertainment purposes. Update: Ah well, back to a 4 again 24 hours later. Was afraid of that. Guess we'll see what the future holds. There's definitely some SERP and toolbar PR updates in progress, though, so keep your eyes peeled. |
