Welcome to my blog. Here's a list of my best posts, as well as a complete archive of everything I've ever blogged about. « A Diggable List of Lists on How to Get Dugg on Digg | Main | The Supplemental Index Rescue Continues » September 29, 2006Supplemental Results Rescue Mission, Part OneWhen a site like Traffick finds most of its pages in the supplemental index you know there's problems in Google-land. I had noticed traffic tapering off to this blog, and sure enough, a site: search reveals many of the pages have gone supplemental. I saw there was a fair amount of duplicate content, both from data and category archives, and from a few titles I changed on some old posts. Little did I realize at the time changing a title causes Movable Type to generate a whole new page, but leave the old page lying around for Google to index. So duplicate content is resolved, and I've submitted a Google Sitemap to straighten things out. Now if I can just get Google to crawl some of these gat-dang pages and pull 'em back out of the supplemental index I'll be all set. I'm too busy to work on building links to this site right now, so I figured I'd link to a few of them myself. Here goes. These are posts pulled from my best SEO posts archive: What comes first, the traffic or the links? Content Managment Systems and SEO |
