Why is this Page a PageRank 6?

Leaving aside the whole PageRank as green pixie dust argument, check out one of my old posts on Yahoo podcasts.

PageRank is a funny thing. A couple of trackbacks, one mention on another (PR 5) blog page, and suddenly (to the uninitiated, at least) my puny little blog post looks like it carries the same mojo as the HighRankings, SEOBook, ThreadWatch, and SearchEngineRoundTable homepages, among other heavy hitters.

Before anyone gets their undies in a bunch, I'm well aware that PageRank is awarded on a logorithmic scale, and sites with the same PageRank are often orders of magnitude apart when it comes to how Google views them. Also, this page could be down to a PageRank 2 tomorrow.

This is just a fun post about a weird observation, and perhaps a warning to link buyers to always check backlinks and traffic, and not just value links based on PageRank alone.
